Paul Reveres etching for the Title page of the Royal American Magazine, 1774
Etching from our permanent collection created by the Boston-based silversmith and revolutionary Paul Revere.
How it represents the community’s American experience:
Revere created this etching to serve as the title page of the Royal American Magazine in February 1774. The work of art, featuring allegorical images of America and Knowledge, is just one of the works on display in Freedom: Permanent Collection on the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, a summer exhibition at the Jundt Art Museum at Gonzaga University. Artists in this small, temporary exhibition also include Elizabeth Catlett, Enrique Chagoya, Winslow Homer, Dorothea Lange, Jacob Lawrence, and Kara Walker, among several others.
On display at the Jundt Art Museum, Monday–Saturday, 10 a.m. –4 p.m. May 30–August 22, 2026.
