The American Revolution is a new six-part, 12-hour documentary series co-directed by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt. The film examines the founding of the United States spanning from 1754 to 1790, and details how 13 British colonies on the Atlantic coast rose in rebellion, won their independence, and established a new form of government that radically reshaped the continent.

Key Commemorative Dates

Washington State is organizing efforts in the commemorative year around four key dates that local communities can use to feel connected to efforts statewide:

Want to get an overview of what’s happening for America’s 250th in Washington State? Anyone access and share our overview brochure.

Encourage people in your community to gather with family and friends over the holiday weekend as part of America’s Potluck, being organized by the State of Utah. Drag those folding tables out of the garage and have a meal with your neighbors, or host a community potluck in a local park. You can even use our the commemorative apple pie recipe, courtesy of the Washington Apple Pie Commission.
