We The People Have Spoken – Inspiring Oratory from the First 250 Years of the Republic

To honor the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, the League of Women Voters of Jefferson County is inviting you to review the history of our nation through great speeches given by respected elected officials and others during distinctive periods in US history.
On Flag Day, June 14, 2026, our friends and neighbors will recreate fifteen speeches to reconnect us with the founders’ declaration of principles and our struggles over the years to bring them to fruition. The event will be held in downtown Port Townsend, the Jefferson County seat, at Tyler Street Plaza from 12 noon until 3 pm.
