How it represents the community’s American experience:

This 1933 Art Deco lighthouse stands at the entrance to Commencement Bay, guiding ships safely into the Port of Tacoma—one of America’s busiest ports. Owned by the U.S. Coast Guard, with the grounds maintained by Parks Tacoma and the historic buildings preserved by the all-volunteer Points Northeast Historical Society, this site represents an important chapter of the American story—from maritime commerce to the preservation of our nation’s history.

On display at the Browns Point Lighthouse, open Saturdays 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. May 25–September 7, 2026.
