How it represents the community’s American experience:
Our Henderson Stagecoach clearly demonstrates the American experience, as it tells a compelling story of our area’s growth. Before the railroad spread to the West Coast, Stagecoaches were the primary means of transportation–so much so that a road was developed for Stagecoaches, called the “Big Road,” in 1850. First stretching from Sacramento to Portland, it expanded to Seattle by the end of the 19th century. Thanks to this road and the Stagecoaches that traversed it, Pacific County grew, hosting loggers, fishermen, and families longing to find somewhere to call home. Stagecoaches like ours played a major role in populating the Western states, including communities like ours. If you want to learn more about our Stagecoaches, “Come Get Carried Away” and explore our world-class collection!
On display at the Northwest Carriage Museum. Open daily, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
