America250 Exhibits at the Westport Aquarium

The Westport Aquarium has two special America250 exhibits this year:
Moments that Made US: We will have a display of the Moments that Made US exhibit and are focusing on the Western Expansion and the highway expansion of the 1950’s and how that affected the boom of the family run aquariums up and down the west coast. The Westport Aquarium is part of this history. Our aquarium was built in 1957. And Brady Engvall and his family who built the Westport Aquarium also went down to help build the Morro Bay Aquarium in California in the early 1960’s, and then came back to Hoodsport in the early 1970’s here in Washington to help run the Hoodsport Aquarium/ Allard’s Aquarium started by the original Point Defiance Aquarium’s developer. We will of course also display the relevant Moments that made us panels to go with our local story.
Out of many One Exhibit. We picked, via community vote, our shark model. The time is now for shark education and preservation!
On July 3rd from 6-8pm and July 4th 11:30 -3:30pm we will open the exhibits and have hopefully 2 printing presses running for visitors to make prints.
