Our America Celebrates 250 Years


Join us for a free, family-friendly event as part of the America 250 celebration, honoring the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding. This special day is designed to bring history to life, offering an immersive experience that helps people of all ages better understand the early years of our country and the journey that shaped who we are today. Step back in time and enjoy a vibrant atmosphere filled with colorfully dressed historical interpreters. Meet iconic figures like George Washington and John Hancock, explore daily life from 250 years ago, and experience the sights and sounds of the past in an engaging and memorable way.
Our America Celebrates 250 Years
Date: Saturday, June 13, 2026
Time: 9:30 am – 5:00 pm
Location: Franklin Park – 2101 Tieton Drive, Yakima, WA
Activities include:
- Parade through the park at 9:30 am
- Period dressed people including George Washington, Yakama Nation Members, John Hancock, and many everyday figures
- Demonstrations of musket drills, dancing, beading and basket making, candle making, spinning and lace making
- Educational talks include what was life like 250 years ago, our politicians thoughts on government formation, our native history, women and their roles and history of our flags
- Drop off location for worn, torn flags needing proper retirement
- Photo opportunities with the George Washington and the John Hancock characters
- Displays of items used in everyday life
- Encampments of Soldiers and Yakama Nation Members
