SUMMARY:America 250 Mason County Forest Festival
DESCRIPTION:America 250 Mason County is a non partisan group. You can visit your local group at the Forest Festival parade and have a booth on Loop Field again this year. You are welcome to join them. They have coordinated a flag making opportunity for the community youth sponsored by Sierra Pacific starting in March. The flags will be displayed in the parade and on loop field. \nThe local America 250 Mason County group/committee is organized through the Washington State Historical Society. \nEarly in 2025\, a small group of locals gathered to talk about the upcoming 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. (Learning how to say and spell the semi-quincentennial was revolutionary\, to say the least!) As friends of history\, the merry band has grown with many new friends and renewed old friendships. They present entertaining history\, share knowledge\, explore personal histories and never stop learning even more about our history as we continue to commemorate America 250. Come join the journey with the group! \nThey are focused on our country’s semi-quincentennial which is a landmark historical event worthy of reflection\, commemoration\, joyful celebration and honors the sacrifices and contributions of all who have come before us in creating this nation. They are a non political\, non partisan group that welcomes and appreciates help from others of like minds! They have received support from several local entities and planning to gain more support.

SUMMARY:Forest Festival Flag making\, Mason County
DESCRIPTION:Mason County (Flags of our Fathers Flyer–2026) \n  \nAmerica250 Mason County introduces a flag making opportunity: “Out of Many – One.”  That phrase appears in the Great Seal of the United States and on every US coin as E Pluribus Unum;  out of many – one.  Out of many colonies\, we grew to become one country.  Out of many immigrants we blended together in a melting pot of cultures and traditions.  Out of many individual stories\, we united for one common goal of “Life\, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness”.  Out of the many colonial flags\, we grew under one banner.  In honoring the history of the people represented by each of those many colonial flags\, we are pleased to partner with Sierra Pacific Industries to launch “Flags of Our Founding Fathers”. \nThis partnership honors the county’s legacy and rich history in timber and Sierra Pacific’s dedication to our forests\, in regeneration and replanting\, managing and harvesting\, while providing for our homes with lumber and millwork.   By repurposing donated lumber\, this project will provide wood kits to interested groups with the goals of creating colonial flags that will be displayed in the Forest Festival Parade and judged at the post parade event at Loop Field in Shelton on May 30\, 2026.  Feel free to share the flyer with any interested groups or contact Will at his email  – WHarris.Allyn@gmail.com.\nKits will be available in March. Completed projects are to be returned May 27/28. The completed projects will be available for pickup as early as Saturday\, May 30\, 2026\, at 4:00 pm at our booth on Loop Field.
