SUMMARY:Greater Kent Historical Museum (Out of Many\, One display)
DESCRIPTION:1976 Presidential Letter to CBCC \nBicentennial celebration letter of commendation to the Citizens Band for Common Courtesy (CBCC) for their work in placing 7 monuments telling the early history of Kent\, WA. Letter from President Ford and his Deputy Special Assistant Milton E. Mitler. Along with these letters are a scrapbook of all the actions of the CBCCs Bicentennial Committee. The exhibit will detail the work of the CBCC\, the Monuments\, and the use of CB radios as part of the Bicentennial. \n  \nHow it represents the community’s American experience: \nKent is one of the most diverse communities in the country. The work in celebrating the Nation\, particularly at special moments by Kent’s diverse population\, is demonstrated in this bicentennial activity. America is at its greatest when we all come together. This letter demonstrates the recognition of that coming-togetherness. \n  \nOn display at the Kent Historical Museum\, Wednesday – Saturday\, noon – 4 p.m\, June 14 – September 17\, 2026.

SUMMARY:Kent Historical Museum - Moments that Made US
DESCRIPTION:The Kent Historical Museum Moments That Made US! The exhibit will be displayed around downtown Kent\, with the intro panels at the museum. \nMoments That Made US\, a special exhibition during the America 250 commemoration\, explores how generations of Americans have given meaning to the ideals set out in the Declaration of Independence.  \nThe exhibition looks back across centuries and highlights both challenging and celebratory times from the colonial era to more recent generations. The exhibition explores five themes drawn directly from the Declaration of Independence: Created Equal; Life\, Liberty\, and the Pursuit of Happiness; Free and Independent States; Consent of the Governed; and We Mutually Pledge. The featured moments from American history inspire curiosity about the events that shaped the nation. They remind us that our story was never inevitable; we shaped it at every turn.  \nThe exhibit is free! \nHours to the Museum: Wednesday – Saturday 12:00 pm – 4 pm.
