PARTNERS
Join the team and become a 250 partner!
The Washington State Semiquincentennial Committee is eager to include all Washingtonians in this important moment in our country’s history, not only as a time to reflect on our past, but also a time to look to the future.
To truly make this a statewide observance, we hope to have partners from every community in Washington. Partners will be key to ensuring all Washingtonians are aware of the 250th and are able to commemorate it in their local community.

We will work with partners to achieve the six outcomes established by the Semiquincentennial Committee:
- Ensure all Washingtonians feel more connected to their history and to democracy, empowering them to engage in productive dialogue that builds stronger communities.
- Ensure all Washingtonians have a better understanding of the foundational principles, structure, and purpose of our democratic system.
- Help the public understand the sovereignty of Tribal Nations as well as their presence and impact – since time immemorial – on the land that is now Washington.
- Help state and local history organizations get the necessary resources to preserve and interpret relevant and inclusive histories.
- Ensure all Washingtonians are able to recognize, preserve, and better interpret important places that represent relevant and inclusive histories.
- Support and empower history and civics educators to teach the skills required to think critically about the past as a way to better understand the present.
As a partner, you will join a statewide network of government agencies, nonprofits, businesses, community organizations and others working at the local level to educate and engage the community. The specifics will depend on your organization’s focus, available time, and resources – but every bit will help all Washingtonians feel connected to this important moment in history.
Partners will receive periodic updates about statewide planning initiatives, as well as accessible suggestions for organizing commemoration activities in their communities. We want to work with our partners to create a meaningful, inclusive, and memorable 250th anniversary. Partners will also receive marketing materials to help engage their audiences and promote their 250th activities.
We are hard at work building resources to support our partners and are excited to share them when they are ready!
