SUMMARY:Ritzville Depot Museum (Out of Many\, One display)
DESCRIPTION:Railroad telegraphers station \nThis is a rare\, intact\, and functioning example of a railroad telegraphers station inside the former Northern Pacific Railway depot. The telegrapher was responsible for handling railroad communications\, and both sending and receiving Western Union telegrams.\n \nHow it represents the community’s American experience: \nThe telegraphers station at the railroad depot was the center of communication in early Ritzville. It was a vital hub where telegrams were sent\, and received\, connecting Ritzville and its citizens to the outside world. \n  \nOn display at the Ritzville Depot Museum\, Thursday–Saturday\, 12–4 p.m. June–August 2026; or by appointment.

SUMMARY:Dr. Frank R. Burroughs Home Museum (Out of Many\, One display)
DESCRIPTION:Harris Family Rocking Chair \nThis 19th century rocking chair belonged to the Jared Harris family\, who brought it with them in a covered wagon from Wisconsin to Ritzville via South Dakota. The Harris family homesteaded in Ritzville and the chair remained in the family until 2020\, when they donated it to the Dr. Frank R. Burroughs Home Museum. The chair is on display with a 19th century quilt\, which was used by the Harris family. \n  \nHow it represents the community’s American experience: \nWestward settlers traveling by covered wagon is perhaps the quintessential American experience\, and this rocking chair made that journey along with the Jared Harris family. They traveled from Wisconsin to Eastern Washington\, where they homesteaded in Ritzville. \n  \nOn display at the Dr. Frank R. Burroughs Home Museum\, Thursday–Saturday\, 12–4 p.m. June–August 2026; or by appointment.
