SUMMARY:AMERICA 250 CELEBRATION AND LIBERTY TREE CELEBRATION
DESCRIPTION:Kennewick Chapter\, NSDAR is hosting an America 250! event in collaboration with the Mid-Columbia Chapter Sons of the American Revolution\, the Mid-Columbia Library and the City of Kennewick Parks Department. We will be celebrating the 250th anniversary of the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence along with a presentation about John Broddy\, an enslaved man and Revolutionary War Patriot at the Battle of Kings Mountain as shared by his 5th great grandson\, Arthur Broady. A children’s coloring activity will also be featured. Following the program\, a ceremony will be held at the George Washington Tulip Poplar Tree the chapter donated to the local Highlands Grange Park next to the library 25 years ago where it will be rededicated as a Liberty Tree along with the unveiling of a new plaque! This event is free and open to the public of all ages.

DESCRIPTION:July 8\, 2:30 p.m. To 3:30 p.m.\nKennewick City Hall\, council chambers\n\nJoin us for “Sharing the Spirit of America”\, a simultaneous reading of the Declaration of Independence that commemorates the first time the document was read aloud in 1776. Participants in every state and more than 20 countries will be reading the Declaration at the same time at 3 p.m. PT.
