SUMMARY:Northeast Washington Fair - Moments That Made US
DESCRIPTION:Northeast Washington Fair will host the Moments That Made US exhibit on July 4th! \nMoments That Made US\, a special exhibition during the America 250 commemoration\, explores how generations of Americans have given meaning to the ideals set out in the Declaration of Independence.  \nThe exhibition looks back across centuries and highlights both challenging and celebratory times from the colonial era to more recent generations. The exhibition explores five themes drawn directly from the Declaration of Independence: Created Equal; Life\, Liberty\, and the Pursuit of Happiness; Free and Independent States; Consent of the Governed; and We Mutually Pledge. The featured moments from American history inspire curiosity about the events that shaped the nation. They remind us that our story was never inevitable; we shaped it at every turn.  \nAdmission to the Fair if FREE for this exhibit! \nHours to the Fair vary: Check the website for details.

SUMMARY:Festival of American Fiddle Tunes: 50th Anniversary
DESCRIPTION:Fiddle Tunes started in 1977 as the Festival of American Fiddle Tunes\, the first festival of its kind in the nation. It’s a week-long\, total-immersion workshop with a hallmark of presenting an expansive array of fiddle styles from specific geographic regions of the United States. The workshop provides an opportunity to be ‘in community’ with the bearers of fiddle traditions\, and audiences will discover culture through music\, learn music in a cultural context\, and build lifelong relationships in the fiddle music community. \nWorkshops\, classes\, band labs\, tutorials\, dances\, concerts\, singing\, open jams\, hat parties\, and gumbo – all contribute to the participants’ experience throughout the week. \nOn Saturday\, July 4\, the Festival will culminate in a family-friendly\, all-day affair at Fort Worden State Park\, with performances\, activities\, special exhibitions\, and more all over the State Park campus\, with multiple stages\, venues\, and activities for all. \nDetails will be listed on Centrum’s website. \nHome \n \nCentrum has access to many venues on the Fort Worden State Park campus\, as the original tenant of the park. This includes a 280-seat Joseph F. Wheeler Theater\, 1\,200-seat McCurdy Pavilion\, two USO dance halls\, an outdoor stage\, and more.  Bring the whole family for an aural history of this country and the variety of musical styles that were endemic to its founding\, and have helped define American arts and culture since the 17th Century. \nCentrum has over 55\,000 images of its immersive arts programs available at the link below\, if you’d like to see them for yourself! \nhttps://www.flickr.com/photos/ptcentrum/albums/ \nWe look forward to welcoming you to our community of artists and learners!
